It backwashes-continuously-automatically. There are no scraper blades or combing fingers to abrade the media.
 The Nugent Self-Cleaning Filter is entirely automatic-all the liquid is filtered all the time through ultra fine wire cloth.
The Nugent Self-Cleaning Filter cannot clog. An internal cleaning mechanism, comprised of a hydraulic motor and backwash vanes, ensures that the filter element is completely cleaned four times per minute of filter operation.
Full flow through the filter is never interrupted, and all impurities separated during the automatic cleaning process are deposited within a sludge compartment isolated from the filtered liquid.
Self cleaning feature eliminates need for regular maintenance. The only requirement is infrequent blow down.

Application Information The Nugent Self-Cleaning Filter is suitable for filtering a wide variety of oils to remove contaminants down to 30 microns and reduce maintenance costs.
The all-metal construction permits the self-cleaning filter to be used on the suction side of a pump to protect impellers or vanes from wear or damage.
The Nugent Self-Cleaning Filter can be used upstream in a two-stage filter system to capture contamination over 30 microns. This will increase the cartridge life of a downstream polishing filter being used to remove particles under 30 microns.
When uninterrupted filtration is required, a single Nugent Self-Cleaning Filter can be used in place of a duplex filter. Its self-cleaning ability eliminates element replacement or cleaning of strainers.
